ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
O’ my brother, one in whose heart God is enshrined, salvation knocks at that person’s door again and again.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਅਨੰਤ ਪੁਕਾਰਣਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
- countless liberations knock at his door. ||1||
ਅਬ ਕਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਤੋਰਾ ॥
O’ God, tell me that the one who has Your support, why should he be obliged to anyone else?
ਤਬ ਕਾਹੂ ਕਾ ਕਵਨੁ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Pause
ਤੀਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਹਿ ਭਾਰ ॥
On whose support are the creatures of all the three worlds, why wouldn’t He sustain you?
ਸੋ ਕਾਹੇ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰ ॥੨॥
why should He not cherish you also? ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
Kabeer says, I have reflected on one idea that if a mother poisons her own child then what can he do? (if God wants to destroy someone then no one can save that person)
ਕਿਆ ਬਸੁ ਜਉ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੇ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੩॥੨੨॥
If the mother poisons her own child, what can anyone do? ||3||22||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤ ਸਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਕੈਸੇ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
Without truthful conduct, how can a woman become a poise woman like Sati (angel Shiva’s wife)? O’ Pundit, see and reflect over this in your mind.
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
O Pandit, O religious scholar, see this and contemplate it within your heart. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਬਧੈ ਸਨੇਹੁ ॥
Without true love for God, how can affection with Him grow? As long as the mind is engrossed in worldly pleasures, there cannot be true love for God in that mind.
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਰਸੁ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਨੇਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Pause
ਸਾਹਨਿ ਸਤੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਅ ਅਪਨੈ ॥
One who believes Maya as the provider of true happiness, doesn’t meet God even in his dream.
ਸੋ ਰਮਯੇ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਸੁਪਨੈ ॥੨॥
does not meet the Lord, even in dreams. ||2||
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਉਪਿ ਸਰੀਰੁ ॥
The soul-bride who surrenders her body, mind and wealth to Husband-God, is truly fortunate, says Kabeer.
ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ॥੩॥੨੩॥
- she is the true soul-bride, says Kabeer. ||3||23||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
The entire world is engrossed in Maya. This love for Maya has ruined entire families.
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਡੂਬੀ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
This corruption has drowned entire families. ||1||
ਰੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਵ ਚਉੜਿ ਕਤ ਬੋੜੀ ॥
O’ mortal, why have you so unnecessarily ruined your life, as if you have wrecked your boat in shallow waters? Turning away from God, you have attached yourself to Maya.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਤੋੜਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋੜੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦਾਧੇ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਗਿ ॥
Angels and human beings are suffering in the ferocious worldly desires. The elixir of God’s name is near at hand but the beast like human does not makean effort to calm down these worldly desires by drinking it.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨੀਰੁ ਪਸੁ ਪੀਵਸਿ ਨ ਝਾਗਿ ॥੨॥
The water is near at hand, but the beast does not drink it in. ||2||
ਚੇਤਤ ਚੇਤਤ ਨਿਕਸਿਓ ਨੀਰੁ ॥
By continuously meditating on God, the elixir of Naam appears in the heart. Kabeer says, that elixir is immaculate and has the power to calm down the ferocious worldly desires
ਸੋ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕਥਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ॥੩॥੨੪॥
That water is immaculate and pure, says Kabeer. ||3||24||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਜਿਹ ਕੁਲਿ ਪੂਤੁ ਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
The family, whose son does not reflects on divine wisdom, why didn’t the mother in that family become a widow?
ਬਿਧਵਾ ਕਸ ਨ ਭਈ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
- why didn't his mother just become a widow? ||1||
ਜਿਹ ਨਰ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹਿ ਸਾਧੀ ॥
Person who did not contemplate on God, why didn't such a sinful person die at birth?
ਜਨਮਤ ਕਸ ਨ ਮੁਓ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੁਚੁ ਮੁਚੁ ਗਰਭ ਗਏ ਕੀਨ ਬਚਿਆ ॥
So many pregnancies end up in miscarriage, why was this one spared? He is living his life in this world like an ugly deformed person.
ਬੁਡਭੁਜ ਰੂਪ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਗ ਮਝਿਆ ॥੨॥
He lives his life in this world like a deformed amputee. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੂਪ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਕੁਬਜ ਕੁਰੂਪ ॥੩॥੨੫॥
Kabir says, people may have a beautiful figure. But without the wealth of Naam, they are ugly hunchbacks.
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਲੇਹਿ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥
The devotees who meditate on the Master’s Name, I dedicate myself to them forever.
ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
One who always sings immaculate praises of God is an immaculate person, such a brother is pleasing to my mind.
ਸੋ ਭਾਈ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਜਿਹ ਘਟ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪਗ ਪੰਕਜ ਹਮ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
In whose heart is dwelling the all pervading God, I am the most humble servant of those people.
ਜਾਤਿ ਜੁਲਾਹਾ ਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਧੀਰੁ ॥
Kabeer says, I am a weaver by birth but I have lot of patience and I am reciting God’s praises in a state of peace and poise.
ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ॥੩॥੨੬॥
Slowly, steadily, Kabeer chants the Glories of God. ||3||26||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਗਗਨਿ ਰਸਾਲ ਚੁਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਾਠੀ ॥
(As I am getting more and more attuned to God), relishing nectar of Naam is trickling from my brain as if elixir is tricking from the distiller . To gather this most sublime nectar, my worldly attachment are serving as firewood.
ਸੰਚਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਤਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਕਾਠੀ ॥੧॥
I have gathered in this most sublime essence, making my body into firewood. ||1||
ਉਆ ਕਉ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਹਜ ਮਤਵਾਰਾ ॥
He alone is called intuitively engrossed, who partakes the Nectar of Naam and contemplates on divine wisdom.
ਪੀਵਤ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਸਹਜ ਕਲਾਲਨਿ ਜਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਈ ॥
When the state of equipoise has come to me like a beautiful bartender, then engrossed in divine bliss, I pass the days of my life in ecstasy.
ਆਨੰਦਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
I pass my nights and days in ecstasy. ||2||
ਚੀਨਤ ਚੀਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
When through conscious meditation, I attuned my mind to the Immaculate God, then I had self realization, says Kabeer.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੌ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥੨੭॥
Says Kabeer, then I obtained the Fearless Lord. ||3||27||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Raag Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪੀ ॥
The natural tendency of the mind is to chase whatever the mind is focused on.
