  1. ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਰੰਗਾ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥

    O’ the Treasure of virtues and Provider of peace, I cannot describe Your wondrous acts.

  2. ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੨॥

    O’ infinite, incomprehensible and eternal God, You can be realized only through the perfect Guru.

  3. ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥

    Since the time I dispelled my ego, the Guru has eradicated my doubts and fears and has blessed me with a righteous life.

  4. ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੋ ਚੂਕੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਦਰਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

    Beholding the blessed sight of the Guru in the holy congregation, my fear of birth and death has vanished.

  5. ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ॥

    I most humbly follow the Guru’s teachings and forever dedicate myself to the Guru.

  6. ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਰੀਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੨੮॥

    O’ Nanak, it is only by the Guru’s grace the world ocean of vices can be crossed and union with God can be attained. ||4|| 7

  7. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

  8. ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਰੀਝਾਵੈ ਤੋਹੀ ॥

    Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru: O’ God, seeing Your beauty the entire world has been captivated; without your grace, nobody can please you.

  9. ਤੇਰੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਗਲ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    In the heavenly paradise, in the nether regions, on the planet earth and throughout the galaxies, God is pervading everywhere.

  10. ਸੁਰਗ ਪਇਆਲ ਮਿਰਤ ਭੂਅ ਮੰਡਲ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਨੋ ਏਕੈ ਓਹੀ ॥

    In the heavenly paradise, in the nether regions, on the planet earth and throughout the galaxies, God is pervading everywhere.

  11. ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਕਰਤ ਸਗਲ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਮਇਆ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੋਹੀ ॥੧॥

    the merciful God, everyone with folded hands begs for Your help.

  12. ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੀਤਲੋਹੀ ॥

    O’ God, You are the sanctifier of sinners.

  13. ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਲ ਗਲੋਹੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੨੯॥

    You are immaculate, calm and bestow peace on all.

  14. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    O’ beloved God, help me realize You.

  15. ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਆ ॥

    O’ Nanak, for Your devotees, discourse with Your saints itself is the spiritual wisdom, meditation and glory. ||2|| 8

  16. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਆ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਥੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru: O’ beloved God, help me realize You.

  17. ਅਨਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

    O’ God, whatever has happened, it is all Your doing. ||1|| Pause||

  18. ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

    I have suffered great pain wandering through many lives.

  19. ਸੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ॥

    O’ Sovereign God, by Your grace I have received this human body; please bless me so that now I can realize You.

  20. ਤੁਮਰੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੂਤਾ ॥੨॥

    That which pleases His will has come to pass; no one else can do anything.

  21. ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

    The human being engrossed in the illusion of Maya does not become aware of it by your will.

  22. ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਾਥਹ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥

    O’ the love of my life, my beloved merciful God, please listen to my prayer.

  23. ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਪਾਛੈ ॥

    O’ my God, I am helpless; please protect and save me from the vices.

  24. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧੂਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਛੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੩੦॥

    O’ God, whosoever You have blessed with Your sight, You have done it through the support of the congregation of saintly persons.

  25. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    I dedicate myself to those, who consider Naam as their only support. ||1|| Pause||

  26. ਹਉ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

    O’ God, grant Your grace and bless Nanak with the humble service of the Saints; Nanak yearns for peace. ||4|| 9

  27. ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru: I dedicate myself to those, who consider Naam as their only support. ||1|| Pause||

  28. ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਗਨੀਐ ਜਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

    The glory of the devotees who are imbued with the love of God cannot be estimated.

  29. ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥

    Peace, poise and bliss is attained in their association.

  30. ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਸੇਈ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥

    There are no other benefactors like them.

  31. ਉਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੈ ਸੋ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥੨॥

    Only those who yearn for the sight of God have come here to save the world from the vices.

  32. ਤਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਪਰਉ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥

    One who seeks their refuge swims across the worldly ocean of vices; all the wishes are fulfilled in the holy congregation.

  33. ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥

    I feel elated in the company of God’s devotees; I get rejuvenated as I approach them with utmost humility.

  34. ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਅਵਧ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਘਾਟਿਆ ॥

    O’ God, bestow mercy on me so I may humbly seek the teachings from Your devotees and meditate on Naam.

  35. ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੩੧॥

    Everything in the world wears off including empire, youth and age; O’ Nanak, the treasure of Naam is immaculate and new forever.
