Ang 189

  1. ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥

    The devotees of God enjoy the Love and Affection of God.

  2. ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥

    Whatever belongs to God, in a way belongs to the devotee as well.

  3. ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    Because of his association with the Master, the devotee also becomes known in the world.

  4. ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥

    The person who has been honorably recognized by His master, is not called to answer for his account of past actions.

  5. ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਆਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

    O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to such a devotee, because he is deep and profound, and honorable.

  6. ਸੰਤ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਆਏ ਵਸਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:

  7. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਸੰਚਾ ॥੩॥

    All peace and harmony is present in one’s own heart, and nothing is outside.

  8. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਮ ॥

    The one who searches for tranquillity outside is deluded by doubt.

  9. ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥੪੬॥੧੧੫॥

    By Guru’s Grace, one who has realized God within is at peace with himself and others.

  10. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    The mind absorbs it, listening and reflecting on the Guru’s word.

  11. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਪਤ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ॥

    Slowly, gently, drop by drop, the stream of nectar of Naam trickles down within.

  12. ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ॥੧॥

    The mind absorbs it, listening and reflecting on the Guru’s word.

  13. ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

    Day and Night the mind enjoys bliss and ecstasy and always enjoys the peace arising from union with God.

  14. ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    After separation of many lifetimes; the mortal obtains union with God.

  15. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

    By the Guru’s grace, dried up mind (devoid of Naam), blossoms again.

  16. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥

    By lovingly meditating on Naam through the Guru’s sublime teaching and grace, union with God is attained.

  17. ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

    Just as a wave merges back into water from which it is formed, similarly the soul-light unites with God’s supreme Light,

  18. ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੁ ॥੩॥

    Says Nanak, The veil of illusion has been cut away, and the mortal shall not go out wandering after Maya any more.

  19. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:

  20. ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੪੭॥੧੧੬॥

    I dedicate myself to the one who listens to Your praises.

  21. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    I dedicate myself to the one who recites Your praises.

  22. ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥

    O’ God, I dedicate myself to the one, who lovingly meditates on You.

  23. ਵਿਸਰੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਈ ਤਾਤਾ ॥੧॥

    (O’ God), I will like to wash the feet of (humbly serve) the person who walks on the path to attain union with You.

  24. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

    With my eyes, I long to behold that kind of person.

  25. ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    I surrender myself to such a friend, who by meeting the Guru has realized God.

  26. ਮਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ॥

    Very fortunate are those who have realized You.

  27. ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ॥੨॥

    He, while living in the midst of all, remains aloof and free from all worldly desires and vices.

  28. ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋ ਸਚ ਸਾਹੁ ॥

    In the company of the saint (Guru), he has crossed over the terrifying worldly ocean, and has conquered all the demons (vices).

  29. ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥

    Renouncing its ego, pride, and darkness of ignorance (love of Maya), my mind has sought the shelter of such godly persons.

  30. ਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥

    (Nanak requests them) Please bless Nanak with the Gift of the Naam, the Name of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God.

  31. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪੮॥੧੧੭॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:

  32. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    O’ God, You are like a big tree, and this world is Your blossoming branches.

  33. ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

    You are the subtle essence, which has become tangible as this visible world.

  34. ਨਾਮੋ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

    O’ God, You are like the ocean, and this world is like bubbles and froth arising from it.

  35. ਨਾਮ ਵਡਾਈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥

    Except You, I do not see anything else.

  36. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    O’ God, this world is like a necklace and You are the thread and beads Even the knot at the end is You, and the crown bead is also You.

  37. ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਸੁਖ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥

    it is You who is in the beginning, middle and end of the world created by You.

  38. ਨਾਮ ਰਤੁ ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥

    I do not see any other except You.

  39. ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

    O’ God, You are the subtle and You are tangible.

  40. ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥

    You are the Giver of all peace.

  41. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

    You are detached and yet attached that You enjoy all kinds of joys and relishes.

  42. ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੯॥੧੧੮॥

    Only You know Your wonders, and You Yourself sustain Your creation.

  43. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    You are the Master, and then again, You are the humble devotee.

  44. ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥

    O God, You Yourself are the Manifest and the Unmanifest.

  45. ਤਬ ਤੇ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

    O’ Nanak, this humble devotee of Yours always sings Your praises.

  46. ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥

    Please, just for a moment, bless him with Your Glance of Grace.

  47. ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਤੀ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

    My troubles have ended, and the demon has been destroyed. ||1||Pause||

  48. ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥

    Worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord God.

  49. ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਮਿਟੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥੨॥

    Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, my anxiety has come to an end. ||2||

  50. ਸਭ ਤਜਿ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਏਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਇਓ ॥

    I have renounced all - I am an orphan. I have come to the Sanctuary of the One Lord.

  51. ਊਚ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਤਬ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੩॥

    Since then, I have found the highest celestial home. ||3||

  52. ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸਿਆ ॥

    My pains, troubles, doubts and fears are gone.

  53. ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥੪॥੫੦॥੧੧੯॥

    The Creator Lord abides in Nanak's mind. ||4||50||119||

  54. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    Gauree, Fifth Mehla:

  55. ਕਰ ਕਰਿ ਟਹਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ॥

    With my hands I do His work; with my tongue I sing His Glorious Praises.
