Ang 108

  1. ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

    is cured of the diseases arising from the vices of many births.

  2. ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਏਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

    So sing God’s Praises, day and night, This will make the life journey successful.

  3. ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥

    With his Glance and Blessings, the devotee’s life has been adorned with spiritual values.

  4. ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥

    His servant discerns God in every being and venerates Him.

  5. ਇਕਸੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥

    O brother, except the One (God), there is no other like Him, and such a wisdom is the most sublime, says Nanak.

  6. ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru:

  7. ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

    O’ my friend, if you want your mind and body to be imbued with the love of the beloved God, then sacrifice everything of yours for that love.

  8. ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਵਾਰੇ ॥

    At all times, we should sing God’s praises and pray to God, please don’t go out of my mind, even for a breath.

  9. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

    At all times, we should sing God’s praises and pray to God, please don’t go out of my mind, even for a breath.

  10. ਸੋਈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥

    It is in the holy congregation that we swim across the world-ocean of vices, and snap the noose of the demon of death.

  11. ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

    He alone is a companion, a friend, and a beloved, who reflects upon the Naam, in the holy congregation.

  12. ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

    It is in the holy congregation that we swim across the world-ocean of vices, and snap the noose of the demon of death.

  13. ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥

    The Guru dispels all the maladies of lust, anger, and sin, and every wish of such a person is fulfilled

  14. ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥

    The four cardinal blessings (Faith, Wealth, procreation and salvation) are obtained through the devotional worship of God.

  15. ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

    Meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable God is like obtaining the all wish fulfilling mythical Elysian tree.

  16. ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥

    The Guru dispels all the maladies of lust, anger, and sin, and every wish of such a person is fulfilled

  17. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥

    That mortal who is blessed by perfect destiny, realizes God in the company of saintly persons.

  18. ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    With the Grace of Divine company His devotees are imbued in Naam.

  19. ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

    O’ Nanak, the person in whose heart dwells God’s Name, whether he is living here as a householder or as a recluse, is approved in God’s court.

  20. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤਂੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru: Meditating on the Naam, my soul is filled with peace.

  21. ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਆਲਸ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

    With the Grace of Divine company His devotees are imbued in Naam.

  22. ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥

    O’ my friends, God is capable of creating and destroying (the entire universe) in an instant.

  23. ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਈ ॥

    Joining the Society of the Holy, and contemplating on Naam with love, the disease of laziness has disappeared.

  24. ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

    O’ Friends, Naam is valuable like nine treasures, found by meditating on God; God comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions.

  25. ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥

    By making the mortals hold to His gown (by uniting them with the Guru) God enables the entire universe to swim across the worldly ocean of vices.

  26. ਆਪਿ ਇਕੰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥

    Such a person is blessed with divine wisdom and meditation on the perfect God, (and truly believes that) God is capable of doing everything.

  27. ਲੇਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਡਿਠੇ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

    O’ my friends, God is capable of creating and destroying (the entire universe) in an instant.

  28. ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਤਰਾਈ ॥

    He Himself becomes the only detached one, and He Himself becomes the expanse of the entire universe

  29. ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਈ ॥

    There is no filth of selfishness in God.

  30. ਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥

    On seeing His vision, all one’s pains of separation are removed.

  31. ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

    That person is wise and intelligent, to whom the divine Command seems sweet.

  32. ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

    By making the mortals hold to His gown (by uniting them with the Guru) God enables the entire universe to swim across the worldly ocean of vices.

  33. ਜਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਾਏ ॥

    With the Grace of Guru, He himself causes his devotees to meditate on Naam.

  34. ਸੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

    O’ Nanak, it is only by God’s grace and pre-ordained good fortune that one meets the Guru, the source of liberation.

  35. ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥

    Raag Maajh, by the Fifth Guru: One can do only those things which God Himself commands one to do.

  36. ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

    Wherever He keeps the mortal is a good place.

  37. ਊਂਧ ਕਵਲੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

    That person is wise and intelligent, to whom the divine Command seems sweet.

  38. ਤੇਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥

    God has (subjected the entire universe to one universal law, as if He has) strung the entire creation on one thread.

  39. ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥

    Those whom he blesses get humbly attached to his message.

  40. ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਪੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

    The person with enlightened heart, sees God among all, and they are like lotus flower in bloom and glow radiantly.

  41. ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥

    Only You Yourself know Your Glory.

  42. ਜਿਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਕਲਮਲ ॥

    You Yourself recognize Your Own Self.

  43. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਧੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥

    I dedicate myself to Your Saints, who have crushed their lust, anger and greed.
